the U.S. National Geothermal Data System (NGDS) has reached a major milestone. It now includes data from over one million wells and this data is freely available online at www.geothermaldata.org.

Reported yesterday by the Arizona Geological Survey, the U.S. National Geothermal Data System (NGDS) has reached a major milestone. It now includes data from over one million wells and this data is freely available online at www.geothermaldata.org

ThinkGeoEnergy reported previously on the Data System, which “contains information from a network of academic researchers, private industry, and state and federal agencies. It includes more than 717,000 oil and gas wells, 414,000 water wells, and 9,300 geothermal wells spread broadly across the nation.”

The database – funded by the U.S. Department of Energy it is fueled by several geological surveys and groups in the U.S.
