With continued weak market conditions for renewable energy developments, U.S. Geothermal has decided to focus on finalizing its San Emidio project in Nevada and develop its El Ciebello project in Guatemala.

With the increasing difficult market conditions for renewable energy development in the U.S., developers are re-evaluating their focus.

So it is no surprise that U.S. Geothermal is now saying that it will focus its efforts on its San Emidio geothermal power project in Nevada and the El Ciebello project in Guatemala.

The company is planning Unit II for the San Emidio geothermal power plant under an existing power purchase agreement. It is now seeking to complete long-term financing for the 8.6 MW Unit I before it can secure financing for Unit II.  Performance testing for Unit I has started by TAS Energy in May of this year.

The company’s El Ciebello 25 MW project in Guatemala is located close to Guatemala City.
