5th Geothermal Resources and Natural Mineral Waters Symposium, 17-19 March 2022

The 5th Geothermal Resources and Natural Mineral Waters Symposium organized by TMMOB Chamber of Geological Engineers (JMO) will be held online on March 17-19, 2022.

Increasing energy demand in the last few decades, global fossil energy prices and the negative effects of climate change necessitate the use of more environmentally friendly and sustainable green energy sources. Research and production of clean, cheap and environmentally friendly, sustainable and safer alternative energy sources (solar, wind, biomass, hydrogen, wave, hydraulic and geothermal) are encouraged in our country in order to meet the ever-increasing energy requirement and reduce foreign dependency.

Geothermal energy plays a dominant role in Turkey due to its rich geothermal potential. Therefore, depending on the technological developments and the effect of the incentive mechanisms applied, the search and investments for energy production have been accelerated, the installed power of the geothermal power plants and accordingly the energy production have increased, the multi-purpose use of geothermal energy (electricity generation, electricity generation, etc.) housing heating, greenhouse cultivation, thermal and health tourism) has become widespread in potential areas. A similar development can be seen in natural mineral waters.

On the other hand, there are also significant problems regarding geothermal energy resources, both in practice and in administrative and technical functioning.

The Geothermal Resources and Natural Mineral Waters Symposium is organized in order to share research and research on geothermal energy resources and the developing technological information on this subject, to offer solutions for the problems in the sector and to open new discussions.
