Alterra Power secures new geothermal authorization in Peru

Peruvian subsidiary of Alterra Power, Magma Energía Geotérmica Perú receives new geothermal exploration authorization in the Arequipa region in Peru.

Magma Energía Geotérmica Perú has received a new authorization for geothermal exploration in Peru.

Magma Energía is a subsidiary of Canadian Alterra Power Corp. The company recently announced teaming up with Philippines Energy Development Corp. (EDC) in a JV on development of certain assets in Chile and Peru. It is not clear if this new permit will be part of the joint activities of both companies.

The new authorization was given by Peru’s energy and mines ministry for exploration for explroation work in the Arequipa region. It is the 9th geothermal exploration authorization the company holds in Peru and adds another authorization in the same region.
