Arverne advances surface geothermal tech with new research

Arverne Group launches a research project to enhance surface geothermal probe installation with innovative cementation technology, supported by BRGM and ADEME.
French geothermal gropu Arverne (Euronext Paris: ARVEN), reports having launched a research project to test an innovative surface geothermal technology. The initiative is part of the “Sustainable Energy” research program led by French energy transition agency ADEME and executed through Arverne Group’s subsidiary, DrillHeat.
Coordinated by BRGM and supported by the French Association of Geothermal Professionals (AFPG), the project aims to improve the installation techniques of geothermal probes, focusing on enhancing cementation quality. A key component is the use of high-resistance cementation socks, a new product developed by French geotextile manufacturer CHAB. The tests will take place at BRGM’s geothermal platform in Orléans under real-world conditions.
Arverne Group has launched two test campaigns, with BRGM collecting and analyzing cementation data to assess performance.
Pierre Brossollet, founder and CEO of Arverne Group, highlighted the importance of the project: “We are excited to drive this research and development effort to advance industry practices. The expected benefits include reducing material use for environmental gains and improving efficiency for workers. Expanding surface geothermal energy is crucial for decarbonizing buildings and diversifying France’s energy mix.”
Arverne Group was founded in 2018 and is headquartered in Pau, France. The company specializes in transforming underground resources into sustainable energy solutions. With operations spanning exploration, drilling, and energy production, the company aims to lead the French geothermal market, including low-carbon geothermal lithium.
With its subsidiaries 2gré – specializing in geothermal heat sales, Lithium de France – focused on geothermal lithium extraction and distribution, Arverne Drilling Services – managing drilling operations, and DrillHeat – focused on research and innovation (e.g. cementation technologies).
Arverne Group is listed on Euronext Paris under the Tech Leaders segment (ISIN: FR001400JWR8).
