Bangladesh is looking for European help on development

Bangladesh is looking at Europe to bring geothermal development to the country, so a recent piece from Bangladesh.

resident Zillur Rahman on Monday laid emphasis on taking diplomatic efforts to bring geothermal energy here from Europe to meet the country’s demand for electricity.

The President made the remark while newly appointed Bangladesh Ambassador to Sweden AFM Gawsul Azam Sarker called on him at Bangabhaban here.

During the meeting, Zillur Rahman asked the new ambassador to work with utmost sincerity for increasing trade and commerce relations between Dhaka and Stockholm through expanding country’s exports to Sweden.

Sweden can import leather, leather goods, jute and jute goods along with its regular imported items of readymade garments, bicycle and textile from Bangladesh, the President said.

“There are still ample opportunities to increase trade volume between Bangladesh and Sweden,” Zillur Rahman observed.

Reported from Bangladesh, the country’s President suggested that the country’s Ambassador to Sweden should “work closely with the European entrepreneurs for bringing more European investments in the country by informing them that the present Bangladesh government is providing various lucrative offers to the foreign investors.

Azam apprised the President that he would do at his level best for bringing geothermal energy technology to Bangladesh from Europe. He also informed that some renewable energy and ship recycling technology are available in Sweden and he would try to ensure technology transfer to Bangladesh in this regard.

Secretary to President’s office M Shafiul Alam, Military Secretary Major General Abul Kalam M Humayun Kabir and Press Secretary AKM Nesar Uddin Bhuiyan were present. ”
