Bolivian President upbeat of geothermal development in Potosí
Evo Morales aims to make Bolivia the “capital of Geothermal Energy” in the coming years with ambitious plans to foster renewable energy generation.
Following the inauguration of the first wind farm a few months ago in Bolivia, geothermal seems to be the next renewable energy to be developed.
According to local news, President Evo Morales announced in a special event prepared to mark the anniversary of the Imperial City, that the department of Potosí will become “the capital of Geothermal Energy” in the coming years.
Morales said the funding for the geothermal development project is assured and that “geothermal energy has already been earmarked there.”
Moreover, he said that one of the main problems delaying the development of this technology is the lack of specialised staff in geothermal energy.
The president used the opportunity to relay that the state has “secured financing to complete the project” Morales reinforced today that the problem is not economic, but what hurts is a lack of “major projects in this energy field. ”
