CanGEA raises awareness for geothermal in Canada with successful crowdfunding

The Canadian Geothermal Energy (CanGEA) successfully raises awareness and publicity for geothermal energy in Canada through its recently finished crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo. CanGEA raised $50,860 allowing it to hire a full time policy advisor.

ThinkGeoEnergy wants to commend the team of the Canadian Geothermal Energy Association (CanGEA) for successfully ending its ambitious crowdfunding campaign via IndieGoGo.

Having hit the goal of raising C$50,000, the Association has reached more than hoped for through the publicity and support it has received throughout the campaign in Canada and internationally.

The Association now has sufficient funding for a full-time policy advisor that “will design and enact a clear path toward removing the policy barriers standing in the way of the geothermal power and heat industry in Canada.

In reality though in Canada, the geothermal industry needs 10x our goal amount so that CanGEA can hire government relations professionals to assist us with our federal and provincial policy influencing efforts. This is vitally important because government relations professionals can get our message to those officials that will make a real difference, like what happens in every other industry such as wind, solar, oil & gas and mining. We’re trying to catch up and play at the same level as everyone else to get the same action.

CanGEA has decided to continue its fundraising efforts and is offering the perks listed in the campaign up until Dec. 31, 2013. Use the ‘Donate’ button below to contribute and if you’d like to claim one of the perks, when prompted after you’ve contributed, enter in the perk you’d like.  Please note that to claim a perk you must contribute, at minimum, the value of that perk.
