Chile – Seminar on Geothermal and Flexibility, 17 March 2020, Santiago de Chile
Organised by the Geothermal Council in partnership with Energy Development Company (EDC) and Transmark Renewables, a geothermal energy forum in Santiago/ Chile on 17 March 2020, is to highlight the role of geothermal towards an viable energy mix in Chile.
Geothermal and Flexibility will be the central theme of a geothermal seminar to be held in Santiago, Chile on March 17, 2020.
The event is Organized by the Geothermal Council sponsored and endorsed by the Chilean Ministry of Energy, the National Energy Commission, the International Geothermal Association (IGA) and ACERA.
The Geothermal Council together with Energy Development Corporation (EDC) and Transmark Renewables will hold the seminar “GEOTHERMAL AND FLEXIBILITY: CONTRIBUTION TO A VARIABLE ENERGY MATRIX” March 17.
The meeting will address the role of geothermal energy as a source of clean energy that provides flexibility to a variable generation matrix, in a context of climate change and drought that is limiting the country’s hydroelectric capacity.
Geothermal energy also appears as a relevant actor to meet carbon neutrality goals and agreements for the scheduled withdrawal of coal-fired power plants. International experts will discuss the benefits of the operation of geothermal plants in interconnected systems and successful experiences at the level world in which geothermal has strengthened electrical systems.
Representatives of the public, private and academic sectors will participate in the event. Government institutions will be attended by authorities from the Ministry of Energy, National Energy Commission, Sernageomin and the National Electric Coordinator.
The event is sponsored by the Ministry of Energy, the National Energy Commission (CNE), the Chilean Energy Association Renewables and Storage (ACERA) and the International Geothermal Association.
The seminar will be held on Tuesday, March 17 between 08:30 and 13:00 at the Cumbres Hotel (Kennedy side 4422, Vitacura, Santiago) and will be open to the public.

Seminario sobre Geotermia y Flexibilidad, organizado por el Consejo de Geotermia se realizará el próximo 17 de Marzo en Santiago de Chile.
Geotermia y Flexibilidad, tema central del próximo seminario geotérmico a realizarse en Santiago de Chile el próximo 17 de Marzo 2020. El evento es organizado por el Consejo de Geotermia patrocinado por el Ministerio de Energía, la Comisión Nacional de Energía, IGA y ACERA.
El Consejo Geotérmico junto a Energy Development Corporation (EDC) y Transmark Renewables realizarán el seminario «GEOTERMIA Y FLEXIBILIDAD: SU APORTE A UNA MATRIZ VARIABLE», el próximo martes 17 de marzo.
El encuentro abordará el rol de la geotermia como una fuente de energía limpia que aporta flexibilidad a una matriz de generación variable, en un contexto de cambio climático y sequía que está limitando la capacidad hidroeléctrica del país. La geotermia también aparece como un actor relevante para cumplir las metas de carbono neutralidad y los acuerdos para el retiro programado de las centrales a carbón.
Expertos internacionales expondrán sobre los beneficios de la operación de las plantas geotérmicas en sistemas interconectados y las experiencias exitosas a nivel mundial en que la geotermia ha fortalecido los sistemas eléctricos.
En el evento participarán representantes del sector público, privado y académico. Por parte de instituciones gubernamentales asistirán autoridades del Ministerio de Energía, Comisión Nacional de Energía, Sernageomin y del Coordinador Eléctrico Nacional.
El evento cuenta con el patrocinio del Ministerio de Energía, de la Comisión Nacional de Energía (CNE), la Asociación Chilena de Energías Renovables y Almacenamiento (ACERA) y la International Geothermal Association.
