Deutsche Erdwärme confirms Philippsburg as possible location for geothermal plant

German geothermal developer Deutsche Erdwärme reports that it sees sufficient potential for the development of a geothermal power plant in Philippsburg in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

A geothermal power plant could also be built in Philippsburg in the district of the city of Karlsruhe in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. This is announced by the geothermal development company Deutsche Erdwärme. The three-dimensional investigations of the underground there have been evaluated.

The data from Philippsburg and the surrounding area show geological breaks that could be used to develop renewable heat from the earth’s mantle. There are several options there, “which Deutsche Erdwärme is currently subjecting to further reservoir studies,” it said.

The fracture zones several kilometers deep are now being examined for suitable target points. You could start drilling there. They in turn determine the possible location of a power plant on the earth’s surface.

The company also expects to inform other municipalities from the end of November in whose area measurements have also taken place. The investigations had also been carried out on the district of Oberhausen-Rheinhausen.

We recently reported on the company’s effort to secure a site for a planned geothermal project at Waghäusel, following promising results of a study.
