The first results from drilling are then to be known in June 2019 giving an indication of the available resource for a planned geothermal power plant.

A drilling contract was signed between the developer Reykjavik Geothermal and Iceland Drilling Company in November 2018 , as we reported.

It is expected that up to 100 containers with the equipment for the drilling rig will arrive in the first week of April. Funding for the drilling campaign will come from a US$15 million soft loan provided by the Abu Dhabi Development Fund.
