Drilling works started in geothermal resource exploration, Diyarbakir, Turkiye

Together with the Turkish General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA), the municipality of Diyarbakir in Turkiye has started exploration for geothermal resources.

As reported locally through our Turkish news platform Jeotermalhaberler, exploration drilling has started in Car?kli, Sur, Diyarbakir in Turkey. The proejct is being developed jointly by the Diyarbakir Metropolitan Municipality and the General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA).

A survey was conducted by the Resource Development Department to search for geothermal spring water on an area of ??4,660 hectares in the Car?kli neighborhood of Sur district. Within the scope of the project, geophysical studies were completed and drilling wells were started.

MTA technical staff, who have made progress up to 680 meters so far, will continue drilling up to 2,200 meters.

In case of supply of geothermal spring water, it will be used for tourism and agricultural purposes depending on the mineral values ??and temperature of the water.
