Dutch cooperation greatly reduces emissions with geothermal
The Dutch cooperation Coöperatie Aardwarmtebeheer Nederland has grown into a collaboration of four geothermal heat projects with huge impact.
The collaboration enables all members to make the various projects a success in a sustainable and safe way. All knowledge gained in this process is shared for 100% and the affiliated projects benefit optimally from this. Matters such as maintenance and data processing are also tackled together.
In 2020, the four affiliated projects (Aardwarmte Vogelaer in Poeldijk, Green Well Westland in Honselersdijk, GeoPower Oudcamp in Maasland and Ammerlaan Geothermie in Pijnacker) produced a total of 1,178,000 GJ of sustainable heat. This amounts to a saving in natural gas of more than 37 million m3, or the annual use of more than 28,600 households. The contribution to the reduction of the CO2 emissions of all affiliated greenhouse horticulture companies therefore amounts to 66.6 million kilos of CO2 in one year.
