EDC assures uninterrupted geothermal operations during community quarantine

Philippine-based Energy Development Corporation will ensure no interruption in their power plant operations as Luzon goes under community quarantine because of COVID-19

Energy Development Corporations (EDC) has committed to providing uninterrupted power supply from their geothermal plants amidst the community quarantine being implemented in the island of Luzon in the Philippines. The quarantine was a mitigating measure by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

The company has put together a skelatal workforce in their power plants across the country, recognizing the responsibility of having to provide electricity to healthcare facilities, food manufacturing, and pharmaceutical companies.

“We are a committed organization that stands ready to fulfill our duty to the public—to not only provide 100 percent clean, renewable power but to make sure that it is uninterrupted,” according to Marvin Bailon, head of EDC Business Development, Trading & Marketing.

EDC has a 1475-MW installed capacity that accounts for 37 percent of the Philippines’ total renewable energy capacity.
