Enel Green Power granted exploration licenses in Peru

Enel Green Power subsidiary in Peru has been granted geothermal exploration licenses in the province of Lucanas, Ayacucho department in Peru.

News from Peru announce that Italian Enel Green Power has received licenses for geothermal exploration work through the country’s  Ministry of Energy and Mines. To carry out the work the company has established a subsidiary to be called Enel Green Power Peru.

“The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) awarded exploration licenses for an area called Carmen, located in the districts of Cabana, Carmen Salcedo and Puquio, province Lucanas, Ayacucho department.

Carmen area is divided in turn into Carmen 01, 06, 10, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25.

The Directorate General of Electricity (DGE) MEM issued a resolution to authorize the request by Enel Green Power Peru on September 13, 2011 to Carmen.

Enel Green Power will carry out the activities described in their respective schedules, which provide for a period of 24 months for Phase I, computed from the effective date of this resolution, and 12 months for Phase II, computed from the culmination Phase I.

The applicant company was authorized to perform this work after the DGE verified and tested to comply with the requirements of the Law on Geothermal Resources.

It also pledged to have an environmental study, approved by the Directorate General of Energy Environmental Affairs (DGAAE) MEM, before the start of the exploration.”
