Establishing geothermal industrial parks in East Africa – lessons from Iceland, Aug. 26, 2020

In a webinar series on geothermal industrial parks, the U.S. East Africa Geothermal Partnership program EAGP will feature the Icelandic experience on geothermal industrial park and lessons for East Africa in a webinar on August 26, 2020.

Please join the U.S. Energy Association (USEA) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) for the launch of the Geothermal Industrial Park webinar series presented by the U.S.- East Africa Geothermal Partnership (EAGP).

In the first webinar in our series, Jón Örn Jónsson from Reykjavik Geothermal and Sigurdur H. Markússon from Landsvirkjun, the National Power Company of Iceland will discuss the Icelandic experience with geothermal industrial parks and their potential in East Africa.

Geothermal energy is the foundation of the Icelandic economy and contributes to Iceland’s 100% renewable industrial and household energy. Innovation in the direct use of geothermal in Iceland has been instrumental in improving the quality of life for Icelanders and has advanced job creation. Our speakers will discuss how geothermal energy could be used in similar ways in East Africa to promote economic growth, sustainable development, and help combat climate change.
