Twenty industry and research partners in the field of geothermal energy in Europe have launched the European Geothermal Energy Education Network (Geo3EN) to further their studies and increase the number of young qualified geothermal engineers and experts . The project was approved under the ‘Erasmus + KA2 – Strategic Partnerships’ program, which encourages innovation and the development of intellectual outputs whose effects should be applicable to as many organizations as possible.
The aim of the project is to design an international graduate study of geothermal engineering. Such education will provide students with competencies in the fields of geology, mechanical engineering, power system management, modeling, energy economy, project management, entrepreneurship and cross-cultural awareness to successfully lead and design geothermal energy projects. The graduate program will be taught entirely in English, and the competences acquired during the studies will be aligned with the needs of industry and research institutions.
The Geo3En project is led by a consortium of three higher education institutions from France, Germany and Croatia and an Innovation Research Center from Iceland. The Croatian partner is the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb, and the project manager is Doc. dr. sc. Sinisa Sadek.
