French developer receives geothermal licenses on two islands in the Caribbean
French geothermal developer Teranov has secured two geothermal exploration licenses on the Caribbean islands of Saba and St Eustatius in the Caribbean Netherlands.
In a release today, French geothermal developer Teranov, based in Guadeloupe in the Caribbean advises that the company has been recently granted geothermal exploratory licenses by the Executive Councils of Saba and of St Eustatius, two small islands in the Caribbean Netherlands.
These exclusive permits authorise their holder to explore geothermal resources over the next three years on both islands in order to qualify geothermal resource for further industrial exploitation. They also give Teranov priority rights to access the resource once it will be qualified.
Jacques Chouraki, President of Teranov, has stated “Those two exploratory licenses are major steps for the cooperation project “Leeward Islands’ Geothermal & Digital Interconnexion Hub in Saint-Martin”, led by the Executive Council of Saint-Martin (French Caribbean). With these permits granted, Teranov reinforces its position in the Caribbean geothermal market.”
Preliminary surface investigations have already started with geochemical samplings. MagnetoTelluric (MT) survey as well as geological campaign are foreseen to be implemented during the coming months.
The islands are located on the northern tip of the Eastern Caribbean islands. in the North west of St. Kitts & Nevis.
