GDC in Kenya appoints Eng. Jared O. Othieno as incoming Managing Director & CEO

Geothermal Development Company (GDC) in Kenya has appointed Eng. Jared O. Othieno as Managing Director & CEO of the company effective April 19, 2020. Formerly with Kenya Power & Lightning, he was previously its Acting Managing Director.

In an announcement today, the Chairman of Kenya’s Geothermal Development Company (GDC) shared the appointment of Eng. Jared O. Othieno as the incoming Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of GDC.

The appointment takes effect on 19 April 2020, following the expiry of the term of the outgoing Managing Director Eng. Johnson P. Ole Nchoe, who has served GDC in that position for a period of four (4) years.

Eng Othieno, who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nairobi, was elected from an initial field of 64 applicants. He has served in various roles at Kenya Power & Lightning Company, where he began is career rising to become Acting Managing Director, a position he held for 15 months between July 2018 to October 2019.

The Board and Management of GDC congratulates Eng. Othieno on his appointment and wishes him success in the new role. Furthermore, the Board and Management of GDC thanks Eng. Johnson P. Ole Nchoe for his service to GDC and particularly for the achievements attained during his tenure.
