Geothermal DHC design Summer School 2022, TU Delft

The 2022 Summer School at TU Delft will focus on the design of geothermal district heating and cooling systems.

The Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Netherlands will be holding a Summer School on 11-15 July 2022 with a focus on designing geothermal district heating and cooling systems. Registration to the Summer School is not yet open but interested participants may pre-register through this link.

The learning activities of this summer school are focused around a group assignment in which participants will design a renewable heating/cooling system including heat storage components. These assignments are real cases from practice provided by industry partners. During the week, participants will be provided with background information on geothermal and heat storage and distribution technologies via short lectures by key experts.

There is a focus on how to store and reuse heat, due to the large fluctuations in heat supply and demand. Next to lectures and applying this knowledge in assignments, there will be three excursions to operational geothermal systems (borehole heat exchangers, aquifer thermal energy storage, deep geothermal) and the Dutch wells and drilling research facility.
