Geothermal efforts in Kenya to receive $155 million under new government budget

The Government of Kenya will set funding in various geothermal development efforts in Olkaria, Menengai and Bogoria-Silali as announced in the Treasury Budget 2017/ 2018.

In the new budget for 2017/ 2018 presented by the Treasury of Kenya, geothermal has been budgeted with a capital expenditure of KES 16.4 billion (around $155 million) as part of the activities of the State Department for Energy. This representas around 22% of total expenditure of the Department estimated for the 2017/2018 time frame.
