Geothermal greenhouse project in Simav, Türkiye aims for 2027 harvest
With 90% of infrastructure work done, the first products from the Simav geothermal greenhouse project in Kütahya, Türkiye are expected for harvest by 2027.
Construction work is progressing well at the Simav Agriculture-Based Specialized Greenhouse Organized Industrial Zone (TDIOSB) in the Simav district of Kütahya, Türkiye, with 90% of the infrastructure work done already completed. The first harvest from the greenhouse facility is planned for September 2027.
In mid-2025, ThinkGeoEnergy reported on the drilling of the second geothermal well in the Simav TDIOSB. Reports now indicate that the project can utilize up to 735 liters of thermal waters with an average temperature of 80 ºC extracted from 22 geothermal wells drilled in the region.
During a visit to the project site by Kütahya Governor Musa Isin, it was stated that approximately 800 acres of land will be used as active greenhosue area. Moreover, 785 acres have already been allocated to investors. During his on-site inspections, Isin visited the geothermal boreholes, the heating center, mechanical facilities, re-injection wells, and greenhouse plots. The project is estimated to require a total investment of TRY 1.1 billion (USD 22.72 million) and will create employment opportunities for approximately 1500 people.
