Gradient Resources receives approval for Phase 2 of Patua project

Gradient Resources reports progress on Phase 1 of its Patua geothermal power project expected to go online in September 2013 and receives use permit approval for Phase 2 construction activities.

Developer Gradient Resources has received approval from the Fernley City Council for a special use permit for the development of facilities for the Patua geothermal project in Fernley, Nevada.

The permit applies to four parcels and the construction of geothermal well pads, wells and geothermal fluid pipelines to support existing and futhre development activities on the site.

The company plans to start drilling on the Phase 2 of the Patua project in the first or second quarter of 2014. Drilling will reach depth of 5,000- 10,000 feet (1,500-3,000 meters). The company plans up to 11 additional well pads that are already planned into the phase 2 use permit application. There are also 9 miles (about 14 kilometers) of piping planned, which will – so the plan – transport geothermal brine to the Phase 1 geothermal plant currently under construction.

Phase 1 of the Patua project is expected to go online by September 2013 and sell electricity into the grid and ultimately to Sacramento, California.
