Guatemala to consider a tender for 300 MW for geothermal

Following a very successful bidding, the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Guatemala wants to create a following one up to 300 MW exclusively for geothermal.

According to our sister publication, Piensa en Geotermia, the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) of Guatemala wants to prepare a bid under the name of PEG-4, where it would double the 150 MW that the Ministry offered exclusively for geothermal energy generation on the previous year.

After the successful previous bidding process, that involved 92 companies and 03 projects, the lowest prices in history to purchase country’s energy (US $ 109.38 per MW), totalling 250 MW were achieved and the the Minister said that MEM is considering convening a fourth tender for 300 megawatts of geothermal energy; twice what was offered a year ago.
