Ideas forming on Geothermal Research Center in Indonesia

Indonesia is contemplating the establishment of a Geothermal Research Center to help the country to live up to its geothermal potential and is seeking support from Australia and New Zealand.

Reported from Indonesia, the country is thinking of establishing a Geothermal Research Center to help it developing its geothermal resources.

To realise this plan, the Indonesian Parliament is inviting Australia and New Zealand to support these efforts given their experience in geothermal energy.

“As I was visiting Australia, I came to Melbourne,” said Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives, Agus Hermanto, after receiving a visit by representatives of the Australian Parliament delegation at Gedung Nusantara III Parliament Complex, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Jakarta , Monday, July 10, 2017.

The Democratic politician revealed that in a meeting led by the House of Representatives (DPR RI), representatives of Parliament Kangaroo stated that there are some members experienced in the development of new renewable energy.

Thus, both parties can exchange ideas related to the development of geothermal energy in Indonesia. “So he will facilitate, especially in the field of knowledge, ” said the brother-in-law of former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

In addition to Australia, Agus also mentioned that his side had previously established communication with New Zealand. Representatives of the country will visit Indonesia to discuss the construction of a Geothermal Research Center.
