Indonesia: Star Energy planning 2 new geothermal plants

Indonesia’s PT Star Energy is planning to build two new geothermal power plants in Pangalengan in the regency of Bandung, West Java, with a total capacity of 190 megawatts.

Reported in local news, “Indonesia’s PT Star Energy said it will build two new geothermal power plants in Pangalengan in the regency of Bandung, West Java, with a total capacity of 190 megawatts.

The third and fourth units of PLTP Wayang Windu are to be operational in 2014 Asrul Saleh Amru, a spokesman of Star Energy said.

The two units will increase the capacity of PLTP Wayang Windo, which already has two plants with a capacity of 217 MW, Asrul said.

The power generated by the power plants will be sold to the state electricity company PLN to supply the Java-Bali interconnection.”
