Ipeks Geothermal to drill 13 wells for geothermal greenhouse in Afyonkarahisar, Türkiye
Ipeks Geothermal plans to drill 13 new wells to expand its geothermal-heated greenhouse facilities in Afyonkarahisar, Türkiye.
Ipeks Jeotermal Enerji Tarim San. Tic. A.S. (Ipeks Geothermal), a subsidiary of Alarko Holding, are planning to drill 13 news wells (10 production and 3 reinjection) to support capacity expansion of their geothermal greenhouse facilities in the Merkez district of Afyonkarahisar, Türkiye.
Ipeks Geothermal holds the geothermal operating license IR:122 covering 2837.56 hectares across the villages of Ismail, Cakir, and Sadikbey in the Merkez district. Geothermal fluid from four existing production wells is currently used to heat the company’s 26.52-hectare greenhouse.
The new wells are planned to be drilled to depths of around 1330 meters. A majority of the production wells, as well as all three reinjection wells, will be located in the village of Ismail. The company states that all new drilling locations are in lands currently classified as pastureland. The project is valued TL 94.5 million (approx. USD 1.9 million).
Afyonkarahisar is also the site of one of the biggest geothermal greenhouse facilities in Europe, which is also operated by Alarko Holding through the Alarko Agriculture Group.
