An interesting article published in Utility Dive discusses if there a potential for geothermal to replace fossil fuels in the Western U.S. and talks to several different utilities. While critical on some numbers presented by GEA in a recent cost analysis, geothermal is still seen as a competitive and valid option to replace fossil fuels in California, simply as gas would otherwise be too predominant in the energy mix.
