Job: Exploration Manager – Geothermal, Ormat, Reno/ Nevada

Ormat Technologies is seeking to fill a position of Exploration Manager at its operations in Reno, Nevada.

Position Summary

This position manages staff, budgets, and activities related to, but not limited to, Exploration. This position is responsible for coordination of personnel and project management with other Resource Managers and reports to the Vice President, Geothermal Resource.

Essential Functions

• Must be a leader in safety
• Oversees Resource teams including geologists, engineers, and support staff. This includes technical reviews, professional development, performance reviews,
  travel, etc.
• Drives acquisition analysis, predrilling exploration programs, and drilling
• Manages exploration, drilling, reservoir modeling, and/or Operations projects, ensuring that they achieve schedule and budget goals
• Develops and manages annual budget, reporting progress monthly to the Vice President, Geothermal Resource
• Manages Resource staff by recruiting, training and coaching employees, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance
• Responsible for the coordination of personnel allocation
• Coordinates projects and resources with other Resource Managers as well as Technical Advisors (e.g Chief Geologist, Chief Reservoir Engineer)
• Conducts project review meetings with each Project Geologist and/or Engineer to ensure timing, budget and studies meet project objectives as well as client expectations
• Oversees Resource-related plans and activities, including data collection, surveys, analysis and documentation
• Organizes and improves workflow
• Develops and tracks metrics for evaluating and reporting progress, demonstrating goal achievements and success rates
• Reviews and recommends activities to analyze reservoir properties, performance and projections
• Ensures deliverables are reviewed and provided to management in a timely manner
• Acts as liaison between Resource and intra-company partners such as Business Development, Operations, and Finance
• Must possess at any time a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT’s auto insurance carrier
• Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner
• Must have the ability to travel to other locations
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays (or one or the other) when necessary

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Geology or closely related field required, Master’s Degree in same or MBA preferred
• 5 years’ experience in Project Management and budgeting preferred
• Previous experience managing a resource-extraction team preferred with priority for exploration specifically
• Strong interpersonal, coaching and team-building skills preferred
• Must have strong organizational and time-management skills
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English at a level which will permit the employee to accurately understand and communicate information to safely and
  efficiently perform the job duties
• Must be able to present project goals, progress, and budget concisely to management
• Proficiency or ability to quickly acquire knowledge of a variety of software applications for work process, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Project, Word, and Excel

Physical Requirements

• The ability to navigate and work in remote field locations and work outdoors in difficult weather conditions
• The ability to walk, hike, and work on steep, rough terrain for extended periods of time on occasion
• The ability to safely operate 4WD light vehicles on highways and off-road
• The ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
• The ability to periodically lift 50 lbs.
• The ability to travel approximately 30% of time
• The ability to work in an office environment
• The ability to work at a computer and computer monitor for long periods of time and stay alert
