Post-Doctoral Research Associate (m/f/d) in Geomechanical Forward Modelling of Onshore Fold-Thrust-Belt-Foreland Basin Systems
The position is limited to a fixed term of 3 years.
Position
The successful candidate is expected to numerically investigate the evolution of pore pressure and stress of on-shore fold-thrust-belt-foreland basin systems. In particular, in the context of production and drilling risks related to deep geothermal exploration in the North Alpine Foreland Basin in SE Germany (also known as Bavarian Foreland Molasse Basin), which is amongst Europe’s most actively explored regions for deep geothermal (hydrothermal) energy production.
Candidates should have, or be close to completing a PhD in reservoir geomechanics, geodynamics or structural geology. We are looking for a highly motivated, independently working candidate with a strong computational background including experience in numerical geomechanical/geodynamic forward modelling and, as a plus, structural balancing/restoration. Applicants should have excellent communication skills and a track record of publishing in international peer-reviewed journals. Participation in teaching and supervision of students is not required, but possible.
