Job – PostDoc research associate, geothermal, TU Munich

TU Munich’s opportunity for a post-doc research associate position in the context of production and drilling risks related to deep geothermal exploration in the North Alpine Foreland.

The Professorship of Geothermal Technologies at Technical University of Munich (https://www.bgu.tum.de/gtt/) invites applications for a Post-Doctoral position beginning as soon as possible.

Post-Doctoral Research Associate (m/f/d) in Geomechanical Forward Modelling of Onshore Fold-Thrust-Belt-Foreland Basin Systems

The position is limited to a fixed term of 3 years.

Position

The successful candidate is expected to numerically investigate the evolution of pore pressure and stress of on-shore fold-thrust-belt-foreland basin systems. In particular, in the context of production and drilling risks related to deep geothermal exploration in the North Alpine Foreland Basin in SE Germany (also known as Bavarian Foreland Molasse Basin), which is amongst Europe’s most actively explored regions for deep geothermal (hydrothermal) energy production.

Candidates should have, or be close to completing a PhD in reservoir geomechanics, geodynamics or structural geology. We are looking for a highly motivated, independently working candidate with a strong computational background including experience in numerical geomechanical/geodynamic forward modelling and, as a plus, structural balancing/restoration. Applicants should have excellent communication skills and a track record of publishing in international peer-reviewed journals. Participation in teaching and supervision of students is not required, but possible.

Our Offer

We offer a full-time position with payment being based on the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service of the Länder (TV-L E13). Working place is Munich, Germany.
