KenGen plans 23 MW expansion of Eburru geothermal plant
KenGen is planning an expansion of its 2.4 MW Eburru geothermal power plant to bring it to 25 MW in the next two years.
Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) is planning to expand its small Eburru geothermal power plant in Naivasha, Kenya.
The Eburru geothermal power plant has currently an installed power generation capacity of 2.4 MW and was built by U.S.-based Geothermal Development Associates.
KenGen is now planning an expansion that would bring the total installed capacity of the plant to 25 MW over the next two years, as reported by local news.
The company is pushing forward to increase its power generation capacity to help Kenya cut down on cost for electricity to businesses and the general public. Studies in the field are under way and there are more wells to be drilled in the field, which lies north of the Olkaria geothermal field.
