KS Orka announces COD of 3-MW Sokoria Unit 2 geothermal power plant

KS Orka has announced the start of commercial operations of the 3-MW Sokoria Geothermal Power Plant Unit 2 in in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia.

KS Orka Renewables Pte. Ltd. (KS Orka) has announced the start of commercial operations of Unit 2 of the Sokoria Geothermal Power Plant in Sokoria Village, Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. This follows the recent completion of capacity testing for the newly completed geothermal power facility.

The Operational Certificate was officially granted to PT Sokoria Geothermal Indonesia (SGI) on 28 July 2023 by the Directorate General of Electricity. Sokoria Unit 2 adds 3 MW of installed capacity to the existing 5 MW of Sokoria Unit 1, which started commercial operations in March 2022. The 8-MW facility is currently supplying power to the Ende-Ropa power grid operated by PT PLN.

PT SGI has also indicated plans to expand Sokoria with the construction of Unit 3 with a target installed capacity of 11 MW.
