License for San Jacinto geothermal plant extended to 2043

Polaris Energy NIcaragua has been granted an extension of the generation license for the San Jacinto-Tizate geothermal power plant in Nicaragua to 2043.

A report published in the Official Gazette of Nicaragua on April 21, 2021 establishes that the request for a term extension of the generation license for the San Jacinto-Tizate geothermal power plant has been granted.

The Directorate of Electricity and Renewable Resources (DGERR), has verified that the licensee POLARIS ENERGY NICARAGUA, S.A. (PENSA), has complied with the requirements established in current national legislation for the extension of the term of the Generation License to operate the geothermal plant in the San Jacinto area, regarding the completion of the period to request the extension and presentation of the legal documentation contained in the application.

The decision establishes “Approv[al of] the request of the Licensee Polaris Energy Nicaragua, Sociedad Anonima (PENSA) to extend the term of the generation license for the San Jacinto Tizate area located in the municipality of Telica, department de León, for an additional period of ten years, so the validity of the License extends until December 18, 2043.
