Mannvit and GTN open joint office in Berlin, Germany

German engineering consulting firm Geothermie Neubrandenburg (GTN) and Icelandic Mannvit opened a joint office in Berlin, Germany to serve German customers on geothermal energy and groundwater management, as well as coordinate international work of both firms.

Earlier this month, German engineering & geology consulting firm Geothermie Neubrandenburg GmbH (GTN) opened an office in Berlin, Germany. The office will also “serve as the new head office of the Icelandic consulting firm Mannvit in Germany, thus extending their network as German and Icelandic market leaders in the field of deep geothermal energy utilization.

The close cooperation within the framework of the Mannvit group covering geology, underground and reservoir modeling as well as the construction of heat and power generation plants allows for the optimal pooling of the expertise of GTN and Mannvit at the new site.

Along with the coordination of international projects, the focus of the new office is on timely, quality consulting in the fields of geothermal energy and groundwater management to customers in the Berlin and Brandenburg area. The proximity to the relevant Federal ministries, as well as the development of new opportunities for the extension of their research activities at the internationally renowned scientific center of Berlin were important aspects when selecting the new location. GTN has two other offices in Germany, in Neubrandenburg and in Unterhaching just outside Münich.

The new office is headed by the geologist Johannes Birner who has been active in numerous projects dealing with deep geothermal energy use since 2006.

About GTN GTN is a geothermal engineering and geological consulting firm in Germany. GTN specializes in geothermal development of low enthalpy basins, reservoir modelling, well design and drilling supervision, CO2 storage and EGS technology.

Mannvit of Iceland provides a broad range of engineering and technical research services. Since the early seventies, Mannvit has been active in the area of renewable energy and has been involved in the development of most power plants in Iceland, both hydroelectric and geothermal. Services for these projects range from research and preparatory work to complete design and construction management.”
