Mercury reports record power generation from geothermal operations in New Zealand
In its report on the financial results for the financial year of 2019, New Zealand power company Mercury reports record geothermal power generation.
Despite lower hydro electricity generation, the record generation from the company’s geothermal operations in New Zealand have helped to compensate part of it.
The company’s power generation from geothermal energy reached 2,896 GWh, coinciding with record high annual spot prices caused in part by gas supply and thermal generation constraints from October 2018.
The overall geothermal availability of its plant reached 97.7%, helping to maximizing the opportunity of historically high spot prices.
