The large geothermal district heating ambitions of the city of Munich in Bavaria, Germany will be presented at the upcoming IGC Forum in Offenburg.

The utility of Munich in Germany has now announced having finalised the second well – a reinjection well – for its district heating project in Freiham.

The well reached its target depth of 2, 500 meters after only 7 weeks, first pump trials are expected for the next few days. Drilling for the well, which is about three kilometers north of the production well started in December 2015.

The planned tests are now to provide details about the flow rate and quality of the water. It is planned that the tests will only last for four days.

The work on the project in Freiham and the 2040 strategy for its integration into the heating concept for the city of Munich by the Munich Utility, will be presented at the upcoming IGC Forum in Offenburg, Germany on February 25, 2016. The presentation by Dr. Christian Hecht will be part of the Forum, International Projects: New Developments und Lessons Learned.
