New player takes over Babina Greda geothermal project, Croatia

ENNA Group, via newly registered ENNA Renew, has taken over the exploration of the Babina Greda geothermal project in Vukovar-Srijem, Croatia.
A newly registered company, ENNA Renew, is taking over the exploration of the geothermal resource at Babina Greda 1 in the Vukovar-Srijem County in Eastern Croatia. ENNA Renew is part of Energia Naturalis (ENNA Group), a Croatian investment group focuses on renewable energy ventures.
ENNA Group announced the takeover of the Babina Greda 1 geothermal project from entrepreneur Dragan Jurilj, who was also in recent news as part of Geo Power Zagocha. The geothermal potential of Babina Greda had already been identified back in 2019, and development of this site had been intensively targeted since 2020.
“The final goal is, if the deposit lives up to our expectations, to obtain a permit for exploitation and build a geothermal power plant that will produce electricity, and use the thermal energy for heating and agriculture systems that will contribute to the development of the local community and the development of the economy. ENNA Group is actively analyzing the further development of geothermal potential in the territory of the Republic of Croatia, and as is well known, we have already come a long way with the projects of renewable sources from solar energy,” according to the announcement from ENNA Group.
The ENNA Group currently has around 100 MW of current projects or projects under development in the renewable energy market.
