Newberry Geothermal is abandoning its latest drilling site at the Newberry Crater in Oregon.

The project, driven by Davenport Power, is facing the problem of finding that there is sufficient heat for a power project, but not the necessary water. This is the second time the project faces the same results from drilling.

The site is estimated to have potential of up to 120 MW installed capacity providing enough electricity for approximately 100,000 homes.
The company hopes to be able to come up with a new plan as early as January 2009.
