Peru opens Geothermal Research Center CIG INGEMMET

Peru opens first Geothermal Research Center, CIG INGEMMET, which is planned to develop scientific research to promote knowledge and the utilisation of geothermal energy in Peru.

It was announced that Peru has opened its first Geothermal Research Center.

The Decentralized Office of the Mining and Metallurgical Geological Institute hosted this week the inauguration of the First Geothermal Research Center, CIG INGEMMET. The center will  develop scientific research to promote knowledge and utlisation of geothermal energy in Peru.

The ceremony was attended by regional authorities and the regional head of INDECI (National Civil Defense Institute) Carlos Nacarino, officials from the District Municipality of Yanahuara, the Dean of the College of Journalists See Arequipa and the Dean of the Faculty Geology, Geophysics and Mining of the Universidad Nacional San Agustin de Arequipa, at its height was the main speech of the President of the board of INGEMMET, the former congressman, Ing. Susana Vilca Achata, who along with the regional representative INDECI cut the ribbon for the operation of the center.
