Registration is now open for the 11th African Rift Geothermal Conference (ARGeo-C11), taking place in Moroni, Comoros on 19-24 October 2026. The event is being hosted by the Government of the Union of the Comoros through the Ministry of Energy, Water, and Hydrocarbons and the Geological Bureau of Comoros (BGC), in collaboration with the African Geothermal Association (AGA), African Union Commission (AUC), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the Global Geothermal Alliance (GGA).

The African Rift Geothermal Conference is the continent’s premier platform for advancing geothermal development through research, innovation, policy, and investment. The event brings together key stakeholders to accelerate geothermal energy as a driver of Africa’s sustainable growth.
With the theme of “Unlocking Africa’s Geothermal Resource Potential: A Pathway to Sustainable Development,” this year’s programme will include presentations spanning the whole spectrum of disciplines involved in geothermal project development – geosciences, drilling, power generation, research and development, policy and strategy, financing, risk mitigation, capacity development, and environmental and social issues.
The events that will be part of ARGEO C11 are as follows:
- Pre-conference short courses: 19 -20 October
- Main conference: 21 – 23 October
- Side events by industry players: 21 – 23 October
- African Geothermal Association annual meeting: 21 October
- Post-conference field trip to Mount Karthala: 24 October

The previous edition of ARGeo was held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, attracting attendees from 14 member countries of the African Geothermal Federation, as well as participants from 12 other countries including New Zealand, Iceland, and Germany.
