Applications are currently being accepted for a Geothermal Short Course to be held in Budapest, Hungary on 23-27 June 2025. The course is designed for graduated young professionals, MSc, and PhD students working in the geothermal field, especially from Central Europe.
The training is free of charge. However, only 25-30 participants will be selected based on the applications. Click here for more details and to apply for the course.
The Geothermal Short Course is being organized by the Supervisory Authority for Regulatory Affairs of Hungary (SZTFH) with further lecturers from Hungarian universities, industrial partners and international organisations (EGEC).
The draft program of the course is as follows:

- The role and importance of geothermal energy, status in the world and in Europe
- Geothermal project development process, challenges
- Geothermal resources exploration:
- Thermal and geological basics
- Conceptual play and reservoir characterization
- 3D geological modeling
- Geophysical exploration methods and their applications
- Hydrogeological exploration methods and their applications
- Utilisation of geothermal resources:
- Geological risks and their management in geothermal
- Potential assessment methodologies, classification methods
- Economic considerations for geothermal utilisation
- Geothermal well design and construction, geothermal well testing
- Sustainable geothermal energy production and environmental aspects
- Field day:
- Visit to Buda thermal karst and spas
- Visit to project site, drilling, geothermal system in the vicinity of Budapest
