While inaugurating the 35MW 5th unit of PLTP Kamojang, the Indonesian President simultaneously several geothermal projects across the country.

Multiple inaugurations of geothermal plants and projects have taken place in Indonesia, where President Joko Widodo personally went to West Java to officially start the 5th unit of PLTP Kamojang.

While partaking in this event, “the president also officiated the groundbreaking for constructions of the 3rd and 4th units of PLTP Ulubelu in Tanggamus district, Lampung Province, the 5th unit of PLTP Lahendong in Minahasa District, North Sulawesi, the 1st unit of PLTP Karaha in West Java, the 1st and 2nd units of PLTP Lumut Balai in South Sumatra, the first unit of PLTP Hululais in Bengkulu,  and the first unit of PLTP Kerinci in Jambi.” according to local newspaper Antara.

This is clearly a step forward for geothermal and renewable power in the country, signalling a the commitment in Indonesia for geothermal development.
