TAQA Geothermal and Strataphy have entered a strategic agreement, combining strengths to deploy geothermal cooling in Saudi Arabia at a larger scale.
TAQA Geothermal and Strataphy have announced the establishment of a strategic partnership to deploy geothermal and ground-energy cooling solutions across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The collaboration combines TAQA Geothermal’ s project development, commercial structuring, and integrated project management capabilities with Strataphy’s PrimeLoop® technology and technical expertise.
“This collaboration represents an important milestone in the journey to establish geothermal cooling solutions in Saudi Arabia,” said Meshary Al-Ayed, Chief Executive Officer of TAQA Geothermal.
“By combining TAQA Geothermal’ s project execution capabilities with Strataphy’s innovative technology, we aim to demonstrate a new generation of highly efficient, reliable, and sustainable cooling solutions that can support the Kingdom’s rapidly growing demand.”
Founded in 2023, TAQA Geothermal is a joint venture of TAQA and Reykjavik Geothermal with the goal of exploring and developing geothermal opportunities in Saudi Arabia. The company has been involved with the drilling of a geothermal research well at the premises of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).
“Prime Loop® was engineered for exactly this: commercial deployments that cut cooling electricity by more than half, consume zero water, and run reliably in the Kingdom’s conditions. With TAQA Geothermal’ s execution and commercial strength alongside us, we can take this technology from individual sites to district scale across Saudi Arabia,” added Ammar Alali, CEO of Strataphy.
A startup specializing in geothermal cooling technology and the “cooling as a service” model, Strataphy has already signed several contracts to deploy its geothermal cooling technology to various industries and facilities across Saudi Arabia, including steel manufacturing, hospitals, poultry farms, and the King Abdullah Economic City mega-project.
