SWM to take over operational management of geothermal plant under construction
Silenos Energy is partnering with SWM, which will take over the operational management of the Bruck geothermal power plant currently under construction in Garching an der Alz, in Bavaria/ Germany.
Reported today from Germany, the city utility of Munich, Stadtwerke München (SWM) is taking on technical operational management tasks for the future geothermal power plant in Bruck, which is currently under construction in southeast Bavaria, Germany.
In Garching an der Alz, Silenos Energy is currently building the Bruck geothermal power plant. We have been reporting on the project. From the summer of 2020, around 36 million kWh of green electricity and up to 15 million kWh of renewable heat for a district heating network are to be produced from the thermal water, which is obtained from a depth of 3,840 meters and is 125 degrees Celsius hot. This corresponds to the needs of up to 14,000 households. Silenos Energy has now outsourced the technical management of the future plant to the Munich municipal utility.
Oliver Friedlaender, Technical Director of Silenos Energy, sees good reasons for this: “The decisive factor for us is the longstanding and extensive expertise of SWM in the field of geothermal energy utilization. The existing know-how of SWM, which guarantees safe, legally compliant operation as well as maintenance and repair, has convinced us to have found a very good partner for the future. ”
Helge-Uve Braun, Technical Director of SWM, confirms: “SWM has operated five of its own geothermal plants, some of them for more than 16 years, and have already successfully taken on operational management tasks for third-party plants. We will bring our experience from construction and operation to the Bruck geothermal plant as a strong partner. ”In Garching in eastern Bavaria, SWM will ensure the fully automated, technical operation of the geothermal plant.
The tasks of SWM in the new plant in Bruck include permanent monitoring, regular plant inspections, the organization of maintenance work, troubleshooting and repair work. Through the cooperation between Silenos Energy and the Munich municipal utility company, the partners not only exchange valuable experience and knowledge, but also hope to work together for safe and reliable renewable energy supply in both Bruck and Munich.
