Tender – Exploratory studies and drilling at Cosigüina geothermal area, Nicaragua

The Government of the Republic of Nicaragua has issued a call for bids for “Drilling of wells and Exploratory Studies in the Cosigüina Volcano Geothermal Area.” Bids must be received no later than 10 AM on 16 December 2022. The official tender document (in Spanish) can be accessed via this link.

The tender is part o the “Program of Geothermal Exploration and Improvements in Transmission in the Framework of the Nicaragua Investment Plan” that is being funded partially by a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The bidding will be conducted in accordance with the international competitive bidding procedures set forth in the Inter-American Development Bank publication entitled Policies for the Procurement of Goods and Works Financed by the Inter-American Development Bank and is open to bidders from all countries specified in those policies.

The IDB had also announced a tender for pre-feasibility studies in the Cosigüina geothermal area back in 2020. The Government of Nicaragua had previously sough the assistance of IDB in the execution of pre-investment studies in Cosigüina and other geothermal areas.

Eligible bidders who are interested may request additional information and examine the bidding documents at the Ministry of Energy and Mines (contact details below). Interested Bidders must purchase a complete set of the Bidding Documents in Spanish from October 28, 2022 until December 15, 2022 between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm by submitting a written request to the address indicated at the end of this Call for Bids. Offers must be written in Spanish.
