Transmark completes 3.2 MW geothermal plant in Canakkale, Turkey

Transmark Renewables’ Turkish subsidiary completed the geothermal power Plant with 3.2 MW power capacity in Canakkale Ayvacik.

Transmark Turkey’s subsdiary Transmark Turkey Gülp?nar Renewable Energy Production Industry and Trade Inc. completed the construction of the 3.2 MW ORC geothermal power plant in Canakkale, Turkey. The plant was provided by Chinese company Zhejiang Kaishan Compressor Co.  with Open Mountain Energy (Eurasia) Pte. Ltd. An EPC contract with both parties was signed in November 2019, as we reported.

As the company announced the plant called Transmark GPP in Canakkale Ayvacik was completed last week and the acceptance procedures were made by the ministry.

Transmark GPP includes many innovations in terms of environmental precautions and technologies used. The system, which consists of one production and one injection well, eliminates its environmental effects with zero CO2 emissions due to its closed cycle. In terms of the management of the reservoir, the closed-loop system makes the reservoir sustainable by injecting all of the produced fluid into the reservoir. Another technological innovation is the elimination of the risk of scaling by system pressurization without the use of any inhibitors. In addition, thanks to the hybrid cooling system, which is also technological innovation, the efficiency of the plant are increased. Another environmental and technological innovation and precaution are to make the secondary fluid inside the plant with the refrigerant that is also in the air conditioner or refrigerator, instead of the conventional butane or pentane. Along with all these innovations and environmental measures, Transmark GPP has been commissioned with a high level of environmental sensitivity. Transmark Group, is an internationally operating company with its headquarter in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

In January of this year, the company announced plans for further development in the Cannakale Ayvacik region. The development forsees the expansion of the now installed 3.2 MW capacity to a total of 19 MW.

Transmark Holding focuses on geothermal energy resources of energy systems. In this context, it continues on geothermal energy in Turkey and Chile with its local subsidiaries Transmark Turkey and Transmark Chile.
