U.S. reports decrease in employment in the geothermal power sector 2015-2016
Employment numbers in the geothermal power sector in the U.S. are falling, so DOE in a report on employment in the energy sector 2015-2016. The report highlgihts the fact of the limited growth of the geothermal power sector in the U.S.
The U.S. Department of Energy has recently published it “2017 U.S. Energy and Employment Report”. In the report, it highlights the employment numbers for the energy sector in the United States.
For the period of Q2 2015 to Q1 2016, employment in the geothermal sector in the U.S. (BUT looking only at the electricity sector), went down from 7,645 in Q2 2015 to 5,768 in Q1 2016. This actually shows that not much has happened in geothermal development in the U.S. around that time. .. and it is actually the only renewable energy and overall energy technology that has not been able to see an increase in employment.
We reported on a report by IRENA in 2015 that looked at employment in the renewable energy sector globally, and then an overall employment of around 156,000 was reported. (see article here)
