UNU Geothermal Training Program Student Presentations, June 1, 2011
Currently, I am sitting in a workshop where students from the UN University Geothermal Training Program here at Orkustofnun in Iceland give presentations on geothermal energy development and resources in their countries.
With a large number of students of this year’s program from Kenya, there are about 30 in total in the program right now, the first part of this morning is going into geothermal development in Kenya. Nine students are talking about geothermal policy in Kenya, development and geology, exploration, drilling, resource management, and geothermal utilization in Kenya.
In the later part students will discuss development in Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, the potential in Morocco, Iran, Bangladesh and the utilization of geothermal resources in Sri Lanka.
Other countries covered in today’s presentations are China, Mongolia, Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
As the day continues I hope to be able to write up some pieces about those presentations.
