Utah FORGE publishes video recap of EGS stimulation operations

The Utah FORGE project site has published a 2022 retrospective video highlighting the project’s objectives, achievements, and future direction.

The Utah FORGE (Frontier Observatory for Research in Geothermal Energy) project has published a 2022 retrospective video on their YouTube channel. The video focuses on the objectives of the project, how EGS works, and the role that EGS projects can play in accelerating the growth of the geothermal industry.

Of special focus in the video are the works related to the stimulation of Well 16 (78)-32 done in April 2022. Technologies such as multi-stage hydraulic fracturing and seismic monitoring using geophones have been instrumental in helping to achieve the project’s goals of creating controlled fractures to facilitate well communication. Project partners such as Geo-Energie Suisse and Silixa were highlighted in the video.

Some of the details of the recent work done by Utah FORGE have also been shared Dr. John McLennan during a webinar hosted by Enerchange and ThinkGeoEnergy in mid-2022. A recap of this webinar has been published earlier.

The retrospective video is shared below and is available in the official Utah FORGE YouTube channel.
