Speaker: Marcus Oesterberg, Chief Operating Officer, Ignis H2 Energy Inc.

Geothermal projects rarely fail because the heat is missing. They fail because risk is taken in the wrong order. In this session, Marcus Oesterberg traces the path Ignis Energy is taking from first survey to final investment decision across a portfolio in the United States, Türkiye, Italy, and Indonesia. He shows how assembling existing data, taking a well-chosen land position, and integrating geophysical surveys make the confirmation well a validation step, not an exploration gamble, and how each stage earns the next, lower-cost class of capital.

The talk gives an update on where the portfolio stands today, what the team has learned about land position and resource capacity, and the steps that remain before geothermal prospects become bankable power projects.
